What does a proposal that’s remembered look like?

01.07.2026

There are many important moments in life, but few carry as much weight as a proposal. It’s not just a question that leads to marriage. It’s the moment in which two people decide to turn a shared future into a promise.

For a man, the proposal is often one of the most exciting and most stressful days of his life. For months he thinks about how to make everything perfect — where he’ll kneel, what he’ll say, what her reaction will be. He wants to create a memory that will last forever.

For a woman, it’s a moment she’ll retell for years. Every woman will remember where she was, what the setting looked like, what she felt when she heard that long-awaited: “Will you marry me?”

That’s why no detail is unimportant.

The place, the light, the music, the scent of flowers, petals underfoot, and decoration that will be captured in photographs — together they all create emotion. And it’s precisely emotion that turns an ordinary moment into a lifelong memory.

In our flower shop we don’t just make floral arrangements. We create the setting in which a new chapter begins. Because when one day you look back at the proposal photos, we want you to remember not just what it looked like, but how you felt.

Some memories last a moment. The most beautiful ones last a lifetime.

Why do men kneel on one knee when proposing?

When a man kneels on one knee and says, “Will you marry me?”, few people think about where this custom actually comes from. Today we see it as an essential part of a proposal, but its story goes back centuries.

One of the most widely accepted explanations takes us back to the Middle Ages. Knights knelt before kings as a sign of loyalty, but also before ladies to whom they expressed respect and admiration. Kneeling wasn’t a sign of weakness, but an act of trust, honor, and sincere intent.

Over time this gesture became a symbol of love. When a man kneels, he symbolically shows that before the person he loves, he sets his pride aside and offers her a shared life.

Interestingly, tradition doesn’t dictate which knee to kneel on. Still, most choose the left knee so the right hand remains free to open the ring box.

On which finger is the engagement ring placed, and why?

The engagement ring is traditionally placed on the ring finger of the left hand. This custom dates back to ancient Rome, where it was believed that a special vein ran through that finger leading directly to the heart. They called it the vena amoris, or “vein of love.”

Although we now know that such a vein doesn’t anatomically exist, the symbolism has endured for centuries. The ring finger of the left hand became a symbol of love, devotion, and the promise of a life together.

Interestingly, this custom isn’t the same in every country. In Serbia, as in many European countries, the engagement ring is often worn on the ring finger of the right hand, since the wedding band after marriage is also traditionally worn on the right hand. In countries like the United States, Canada, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom, the engagement ring is most often worn on the left hand, and after the wedding it stays on the same finger together with the wedding band.

In the end, it doesn’t matter which hand the ring is on. What gives it its true value isn’t the diamond or the precious metal, but the moment in which it was placed and the promise it represents.

That’s why every engagement ring has its own story, and the most beautiful stories always begin with one simple question: “Will you marry me?” 💍🤍
