How to extend the freshness of your bouquet at home? – 7 simple tricks
There’s nothing lovelier than bringing a fresh bouquet into your home. But we also know how quickly it can wilt if you don’t give it a little attention. The good news? With a few tricks, your bouquet can last longer and brighten your days. Here are our recommendations:
- Put the flowers in water right away
Flowers don’t like waiting. As soon as the bouquet arrives, place it in a clean vase with cold water. Water is life, and the first few minutes are crucial for longevity. - Strip the leaves from the stems
Leaves sitting in water rot quickly and create bacteria. Remove the leaves from the lower part of the stem, so only the “bare” part stays in the water. - Trim the stems at an angle
Before putting the bouquet in the vase, cut each stem at a 45-degree angle. It’s best to use a clean knife rather than scissors. This way the flowers absorb water more easily and stay fresh longer. - Change the water every day or every other day
Forget about old water. Change it, and each time trim the stems again by a few millimeters. It’s a small routine that makes a big difference. - Keep the bouquet away from heat sources
Radiators, direct sunlight, or air conditioning aren’t good friends to flowers. They’ll last most beautifully in a space with a pleasant, steady temperature. - Add the “secret ingredient”
At the flower shop we often use special flower food — small packets of powder that you can ask us for free when buying flowers. If you don’t have flower food, you can add a drop or two of lemon juice and a teaspoon of sugar to the water. It’s a homemade elixir for petals. - Listen to the flowers — they’ll tell you themselves when something’s missing
If you notice the petals drooping or the water getting cloudy, that’s a sign it’s time for a refresh. A bouquet is like a small living organism — it asks for care and rewards you with beauty.
Bouquets aren’t eternal, but with a little attention, their beauty can last for days.
And we’re here so that every next bouquet brings a new story into your home.
